To treat them, the first way to attack keloids is usually a cortisone injection but this is not a guaranteed way to make it smaller. Topical and retinol laser treatments can also be applied to keloids after they get flattened. Keloids can be removed surgically, but there is a high chance of regrowth.

• Treatments are always individualised. Not all scars are suitable for all these treatments
